Art being therapeutic

 Art
and the application of color. The pressing down of each pencil stroke to build color upon color. The discovery of how white can be used on blues and reds, and how the paper underneath peeks through. The creation of an image. The releasing of tension of each small, yet powerful application of a line. The energy the line produces, the difference in different areas of the design. The way the eyes stare at the artist, the changing of the expression of the mouth. The contrast of bright colors and duller ones.
Art
and the realization the drawing is just about done. The final touches, the satisfaction of completion. The looking at, the photographing. Seeing the drawing under different lights, chosing, where and how to get the best image across.
Art
the creation, the doing, the thinking, the mental processing.
MUCH more than just drawing a picture. The many steps, the final completion, and the beginning again, perhaps next time better, having learned something in the process.
Art
it IS therapeutic. A release, a creation, a relationship with the paper, just you and "him" or "her" or "it" telling you "put this color on next" "give the next line more power" and finally at the end the work tells you "finished".

Carlo Calderozzi on sax

Carlo Calderozzi, an Italian saxophone player recently performed at my art exhibition, and what a performance!
On May 3 he accompanied singer Sarah Minciotti in the beautiful ex church Santa Maria della Misericordia. Then afterwards he did some improvisations (jazz) going around the show, stopping at different paintings or photos and playing alone on the sax, to the pleasure of the many visitors at the show.
Here are some photos of Carlo, some here at home when he and Sarah came to practice together, and also during and after the event.
Check out Carlo's page on facebook, he is a serious musician, and  a pleasure to work with.

Here is some information about Carlo, written for the brochure and press release, in Italian:

"Anche se la musica ha dei limiti, l'arte è infinita, immensa ..."

"Carlo Calderozzi, sassofonista perugino, classe 1968.

On television tonight - Eventus on Tef and Sky channels

Here is a video on Eventus this evening, giving much attention to the marvelous musicians who were present at the two musical events during my show, as well as showing many of the art pieces I had displayed.
